ABA Therapy Services
for the Greater Miami, FL Area
Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA, is a type of therapy that is designed to improve social, learning, and communication skills through reinforcement strategies. Most experts consider it the gold-standard treatment for children with certain developmental conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). ABA can help improve attention, focus, memory, social skills, and academic performance; it can also help increase your child’s language and communication skills while decreasing problem behaviors. Because ABA techniques can be adapted to a patient’s specific needs, it can be successful in all kinds of cases and applied in all kinds of environments.
How Does ABA Therapy Work?
ABA therapy is a flexible treatment that involves many different techniques for understanding and changing behavior. Your child’s treatment plan will be tailored to him or her specifically, but will most likely contain a combination of interventions we can apply during our ABA therapy sessions and strategies you can implement at home.
First, your child will meet with one of our therapists for a full ABA evaluation and academic assessment. From there, we will determine your child’s individual needs and develop a therapy plan to help work towards his or her goals. Every ABA plan looks different, but most contain similar foundations: goal behaviors are encouraged using positive reinforcement, and understanding what triggers problem behaviors can help the student replace inappropriate actions with more constructive alternatives.
